Sports and Pregnancy: The Calisthenics of It

Being a former athlete myself, when I found out that I was pregnant, I didn’t want to tell anyone. After consulting my doctor, I found out that I could only compete for the first few months. Talk to your coaches and see what school policies are. Unfortunately, you will face some judgment by people, you trust and admire. It’s better to be up front with them, if you get hurt and have to see a doctor the truth will come out and the school or coaches may be liable and then everyone wants to know why you didn’t tell them.  I myself believe a person should remain active during pregnancy, it helps to keep your muscles toned and ready for labor, plus it keeps off some of the unwanted weight gain.
